Is a “Neighborhood Plan” in the works for SoBro? - 11/04/04

(SoBro – South of Broadway – is that area of the city from I-65 to 9th Street and from Broadway to roughly Kentucky.)

SoBBA has been working with community members and the new Metro Government to begin a process that will culminate in a plan for the SoBro area along the lines of the recently completed plan for Old Louisville. Members of the Mayor's Task Force have been chosen and actual planning sessions have begun.

What can the SoBro plan do for you? Check out The SoBro Neighborhood Plan for further information and continuing updates on the prograss of the plan. You can also go to the SoBro Plan Discussion page to post questions, comments and see what your neighbors and associates are thinking.

SoHo Condominiums - 02/01/05

The SoHo Condominium Complex at 5th and Breckinridge is now under construction. This is the first new housing complex in the SoBro area in decades and promises to be a significant addition. The first phase of the project includes thirty living units and covered parking. Over 25% of the one and two bedroom units were pre-sold before the first spade of dirt was turned. Completion is planned for fall of 2005.

If all goes well, Phase II - 4000 square feet of commercial space and 8 additional living units - will begin in 2006 to be followed by Phase III - an additional 30 living units - in 2007.

Kleier Associates, Architects, a member of SoBBA, has been selected as the Architect for the development. The building design is definitely out of the ordinary, resembling the late 1800s buildings of West Main Street.

Sons of the American Revolution

Perhaps you have seen the sign that recently appeared behind Memorial Auditorium at Fifth & Kentucky. Apparently this site will become the new home of a research library for the Sons of the American Revolution. We have attempered to contact the local chapter for additional information, but they have not returned our e-mails. So, if anyone has additional information, please let us know. We want to keep everyone up to date.
